التعريف والاستخدام
يحدد العنصر <xsl: output> تنسيق المستند الناتج.
ملاحظة : <xsl: output> هو عنصر ذو مستوى أعلى ، ويجب أن يظهر كعقدة فرعية لـ <xsl: stylesheet> أو <xsl: transform>.

سيكون الإخراج في هذا المثال مستند XML ، الإصدار 1.0. يتم تعيين ترميز الأحرف على "UTF-8" وسيتم وضع مسافة بادئة للإخراج لتسهيل القراءة:
